Mothers of Preschoolers
"Remember children are born with a decided bias toward evil, and
therefore if you let them choose for themselves, they are certain to
choose wrong. The mother cannot tell what her tender infant may grow up to be - tall or short, weak or strong, wise or foolish; he may or may not be any of these it is all uncertain. But one thing the mother can say with certainty: he will have a corrupt and sinful heart. It is natural for us to do wrong... Our hearts are like the earth on which we tread; let it alone, and it is sure to bear weeds.

MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers.  MOPS exists to meet the needs
of every mom -urban, suburban, and rural moms, stay-at-home and working
moms, teen, single, and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all
share a similar desire to be the best moms they can be!  

MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy to kindergarten are foundational
in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs.  MOPS
helps moms through relationships established in the context of local groups
like this one that provide a caring atmosphere for today's mother of young
children.  MOPS also encourages and supports mom through resources such
as books, their web site (MOPS.org) and the daily MOMSense Radio Program.

What happens at a MOPS Meeting?  At each of 
our meetings, moms enjoy a chance to socialize 
and relax.  We take turns bringing snacks, so 
there's always a treat to enjoy as well.  At most 
meetings a speaker will address a topic related 
to motherhood or family life.  We then divide 
into small groups for a quick discussion time, 
and we end the morning with a creative
activity or life skill lesson.

I have preschoolers.  How can I get involved 
with MOPS?  If you are amother of a child age 
birth through six, you may join MOPS.  Because 
we need to plan for childcare, please register before attending.  To get a registration form, you can contact the church office at 301-972-8151.

What is MOPPETS?  MOPPETS is the children's 
program which meets at the same time as the MOPS 
group.  We strive to make it a fun and nurturing 
program so that kids are glad to be there, and moms 
are glad to leave them.

What does it cost?  This year the annual registration fee is $23.95 -- this fee goes directly to MOPS International, and in return you receive a box full of goodies and a subscription to a bi-monthly magazine.  In addition, we ask that everyone pay a nominal meeting fee.  If money is tight, please inquire about a scholarship.  Any mom who finds a volunteer childcare worker can attend for free!

in the Cafe at Poolesville Baptist Church and Family Life Center* from September through May on the following dates:

We also occasionally meet outside of these meetings for tours and playdates; these times are announced when they come up.
