"Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not whether they be clergymen or laymen, they alone will shake the gates of Hell and set up the kingdom of Heaven upon Earth."

John Wesley

"I have only one hundred people to preach to," said a country pastor to me. And I replied,  "If you give a good account of those hundred, you have quite enough to do."

C. H. Spurgeon

"We cannot play at preaching. We preach for eternity."

C. H. Spurgeon

"Every time we look upon our congregations, let us believingly remember that they are the purchase of Christ's blood, and therefore should be regarded by us with the deepest interest and the most tender affection. "

Richard Baxter

"When God's sheep are in danger, the shepherd must not gaze at the stars and meditate on "inspirational" themes. He is morally obliged to grab his weapon and run to their defense."
